La Malà Camere di Charme is located in Via San Giovanni Battista 29, in the westward part of  Vernazza known by locals as Luvegu. Dominated by the ancient round watchtower, it faces both the sea and village.

Notwithstanding its central position (it takes scarcely a couple of minutes to get to the famous square on the sea or to the railway station) it enjoys a privacy and silence that are both rare and invaluable.

How to get to Vernazza

The best way to get to Vernazza and La Malà rooms of charme is without doubt by train. The car, given the peculiar orography of Liguria in general and of the Cinque Terre area in particular, is on the other hand not recommended, not least because those who do not hold a residents permit must park in the pay and display areas located about 1 km uphill from town. A convenient shuttle service is available to take you to and from Vernazza to the parking place. Please contact us fur further info on parking and parking reservations.

In spring and summer, the many boats connecting the Cinque Terre to  the Golfo dei Poeti may represent a pleasurable alternative to more traditional means of transportation.

By Train

Vernazza is located along the railway line Genoa-La Spezia-Pisa-Livorno-Rome . To reach Vernazza you can arrive with the Intercity trains to Levanto or La Spezia and then continue with local trains, whose rides (during the day) are very frequent, especially in summer. During the summer there is also an extremely convenient shuttle service organised by the “Ente Parco delle Cinque Terre”, which goes from La Spezia to Levanto and back, stopping at all stations.

During most of the season, a convenient shuttle service  5 Terre Express organised by the Park Authority connects La Spezia and Levanto stopping at all locations of the area.

Note: From the 1st of April to the 1st of October it is possible to travel comfortably between La Spezia, Riomaggiore, Manarola, CornigliaVernazzaMonterosso and Levanto every 15 minutes from morning until evening.

You can check the timetable and buy tickets on  www.trenitalia.it  or download the Trenitalia app.

The cost for a single ride within the 5 Terre area is € 4 per person. Alternatively, the CINQUE TERRE CARD may be used. Available in 1-day or multi-day versions, the Card grants you unlimited train rides within the Levanto-La Spezia route and unlimited access to the 5 Terre Park trails. 5 Terre Parks may be purchesd at all 5 Terre railway stations, as well as in Levanto and La Spezia stations, and is is also availble for purchase online.

By Car

To get to Vernazza, you’ll have to take the panoramic "Litoranea delle Cinque Terre" (the Cinque Terre Coast Road), that connects Monterosso to Riomaggiore and runs mostly at about 400 mt above sea level. Not the easiest of drives, but you’ll be rewarded by breathtaking views.

  • From GENOA: Genova / Livorno A12
  • From MILAN via Genoa: Milano A7 - Genova A12
  • From TURIN: Torino A21 - Alessandria A26 - Genova A12
  • From VENTIMIGLIA: Ventimiglia A10 - Genova A12

Highway A 12 Genova – Livorno, exit at Carrodano junction. From about 400 mt above sea level, drive down to Levanto, then uphill again to Colle di Gritta where you’ll find the junction for Monterosso. You’ll find the junction for Vernazza shortly after passing the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Soviore. From this road-fork on, the panoramical, sharply turning road, though well kept, is extremely narrow, you’ll therefore need to pay great attention to vehicles coming from the opposite direction. Estimated driving time: 45 minutes.

  • From MILAN Via Parma: Milano A1 - Parma A15 - La Spezia
  • From ROME via Florence: Roma A1 - Firenze A11 - Pisa / Genova A12
  • From ROME via Grosseto: Roma SS1 - Livorno / Genova A12

The S. Stefano Magra junction, on the A12 Genova – Livorno or the A15 Parma – La Spezia, is connected to La Spezia by a fast motorway. Once in town, follow the signs for Cinque Terre. You’ll drive along the water-front, pass the Navy Yard and take the Litoranea delle Cinque Terre (SS370). The junction for Vernazza is located a few kilometers after the village of Volastra. At this point, the road narrows and goes steeply downwards. In this case also, it is important to pay the greatest attention to vehicles coming uphill. Estimated driving time: 45 minutes.

WARNING: the A12 Genoa-Livorno Highway is currently undergoing major renovation works, causing long queues and delays. We strongly recommend you choose alternative routes.
Nearest Petrol Station: In the Cinque Terre area, there are no petrol stations. The nearest ones are to be found in Levanto and La Spezia.

By Boat

In spring and summer, when the sea is calm, it is possible to reach Vernazza with one of the boats that make scheduled service from many places and enjoy the spectacular view of the coast.
