The historic traditions of the Cinque Terre are agriculture, which shaped the region’s iconic terraced landscape, and fishing. There was hardly a cellar in the Cinque Terre where “arbanelle” — traditional glass jars filled with salted anchovies — were not kept. The scent of wine and fish mingled together, creating an intoxicating blend that captured the essence of life along the coast.
